DR HAGLER OKERIE, SAID THE LOCKDOWN IN THE STATE IS NOT MEANT TO PUNISH THE PEOPLE.

The Transition Committee Chairman for Bende Local Government Area Dr Hagler Okorie said the lockdown in the state is not meant to punish the people of Abia State, rather one of the best measures in preventing corona virus from entering State.

The TC Chairman stated this when he monitored the level of compliance of Abia State Government directives on boarder closure and total lockdown of the state. He described Bende as very strategic in the fight to prevent the virus from entering the state considering the fact that we share boundaries with Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi and Enugu States, and directed the security personnel at Itumbauzo, Ugwueke and Ezeukwu boarder areas to ensure that there is no entry and exit.

At Amaokwelu Alayi, Dr Okorie frowned at the lax affair attitude of people who goes about their normal business despite Government warnings and directives, He ordered for the closure of all markets in Bende Local Government including afia ozara, Eke Uzuakoli, Ugwueke, Ezeukwu and afor umuoche Bende.

He thanked Governor Ikpeazu for his untiring efforts in stopping Corona Virus from entering the state and for distribution of palliative to the poor and needy, and promise to continue to compliment the efforts of the state Government and called on the people to continue to observe the necessary measures of staying at home, washing of hands, avoiding crowded places and observing social distancing.

The Divisional police officer for Uzuakoli police division, the officer in charge of DSS, Civil Defense, immigration and the Security task force team on Covid-19 for Bende north joined the Chairman during the inspection.
