Engage In Skills Acquisition Programmes, Engr Sylvanus to Abia Youth
Abia youth have been enjoined to key into different youth programmes created by the federal government in the state so as to perfect their skills.
Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Abia State Chapter, Engr. Smith Sylvanus, who gave the charge on Friday in Umuahia, the state capital while interacting with _Quick Reporters Correspondent_ , stressed the need for Abians irrespective of educational qualification to obtain relevant skills that will guarantee their success in a challenging and changing world.
The Abia Youth Chairman said in a bid to integrate the youth in the state and reinvigorate the Council, the National Youth Council, Abia Chapter under his watch, carried out congresses at the LGA level and set up caretaker committees at that level for proper interface with them, pointing out that the idea has paid off as there is a good working relationship between the Council and the LGAs.
On the relationship between the state government and the Council, Engr. Sylvanus, said Abia State government understands that the best way to achieve youth development is by empowering them, teaching them skills on how to be self reliant, noting that the idea has produced artisans among other classes of people who are doing well in their vocation.
He added that the Abia Youth Council has synergized with the state government and carried out sensitization programmes on the need for Abia youth to key into federal governments programmes like the N-power, stressing that the state government has given enormous support to FG's programmes in the state.
Engr. Sylvanus also commended the Abia state government for donating an office to the Council, informing it is the first time the Council has received an office since its inception in the state, reiterating that the office will assist in bringing Abia youth together for easy link with the State government.
