ABIA TO KEY INTO FEDERAL GOVERNMENT POLICIES.....

Abia state governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has restated his administration's determination to embrace and key into all Federal government policies especially the National Policy on Methanol Fuel Production Technology to diversify the state and National economy from oil to non oil dominant.

Dr. Ikpeazu who stated this during the South- East Zonal stakeholders' sensitization programme on the implementation of the National policy on Methanol Fuel production technology in Nigeria held at the International Conference Centre, Ogurube Layout, Umuahia assured that the state government will  diligently and ensure successful  implement the policy in the state and South East Zone in order to optimally maximise its immense environmental and socio - economic benefit.

 Represented by his deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, the governor, acknowledged the numerous benefit of methanol fuel which include creation of jobs and wealth in Nigeria, improvement of the transportation infrastructure and energy service in the state, provision of cheaper and cleaner fuel for efficient transportation services, elimination of gas fleeing in the Niger Delta region, provision of cleaner house hold energy, services and safe liquid fuel for reliable electricity generation in Nigerian and development among others.

He reaffirmed that the present administration was ever committed to exploring every ingenuity to ensure that her resources are efficiently and effectively harnessed and deployed to upgrade facilities in all parts of the state as well remained focused in achieving its five points pillars on agriculture, education, commerce/industry, health, oil/gas with their institutional and infrastructural development.

Speaking while presenting the National Policy on Methanol Fuel, Minister For Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu who pointed out that apart from improving the standard of living of the people the Methanol fuel policy approved by the federal executive council is a better alternative to the fuel , as it is cheaper more environmental friendly and a replacement to diesel, fuels , firewoods  and kerosene for cooking and called on entrepreneuers and investors in the private sector to invest in Methanol production in the country.

Also Speaking, the minister of state for mines and steel development, Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah said the importance of Methanol Fuel cannot be overemphasized as it remains a better option to diversify the economy from dependence on oil and urged Stakeholders from the southeast to key into the programme which a project for the future and appreciated the federal government and the ministry for science and technology for redefining the foundation of the nations economy towards.

In his goodwill message, the speaker, state house of assembly, Chief  Chinedu Orji represented by the house minority leader, chief Chijioke Chukwu said the successful implementation of the policy in the southeast region will improve the transportation infrastructure and energy service needed to facilitate the growing technology initiative of investors and said that the Will partner with the executive arms in an effort to realize the overall good of the citizenry and boost a robust economy.

In their separate remarks, the state commissioner for science and technology, Chief Chijoke Madumere and chief of staff to the governor, Dr. A.C.B. Agbazuere noted that the event presented a veritable platform on the need for Stakeholders to look inward and utilize the opportunity provided by the Methanol Fuel production technology that will benefit the people and present a better alternative to improving the country's economy and thanked the organizer of the event for choosing Abia state as host for the Sensitization.
