ISU ATTACK: HON. NKOLE MOVED MOTIONS OF URGENT PUBLIC IMPORTANCE > QUICKREPORTS

Thursday 6th February, 2019 during plenary , the member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Uko Nkole moved a motion on the need for the Federal government to deploy more security personnel to combat the boundary dispute in the Arochukwu Area of Abia state and it was seconded by Rep. Ali Mohammed.
Rt. Hon. Nkole stated that the boundary conflict has led to the death of so many individuals and if not adequately contained, could escalate to a regional crisis. Also, he stated that it is constitutional for the federal government to deploy troops to quell such uprisings quickly, and this he is calling for;
1.) He called on the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to provide relief for the victims, and that the National Boundary Commission (NBC) should demarcate the boundaries of the region to ensure such uprising does not happen again, as it has become a recurring incident.
2.) Rt. Hon. Nkole further called on the House Committees on Police, Defense, National Security and that on Legislative Compliance to ensure compliance to the prayers of the motion.
As a disaster-related motion, it was voted on and adopted.
